I released the previous version of this website around 3 and a half years ago. At that time I was mostly posting my projects on Reddit, and I wasn’t really that disciplined on my documentation due to the format. I was posting large galleries without any deeper descriptions or a plan for what to include there. After I started posting my projects here, it made me think more about what I want to communicate about the thing I’m building, but also a silent goal for myself to finish at least one documented project per month.
Now the site suddenly has over 100 projects published, and I realized that it’s impossible to find anything. It was a good time to have a digital weekend project that was not related to my work, and redesign the site.
I decided to retire my old hand-drawn logo, and use my maker’s mark for all the identity elements on the site.
I also re-wrote the About Me -section to reflect myself better.
The site is still of course created with WordPress, but this time there is no fancy theme or loads of plugins. The whole site is build on top of the Twenty Twenty-Five standard theme that is shipped with a new installation.
I’m only using one plugin that is creating the grid layout on the front-page, but also if you dig deeper into the tags or other linkable categories.
All the layout is handled by a single CSS file, which also does little tweaks for the mobile view.
I believe that this layout is future-safe for the next three years, and then it’s time for a new design anyway.
